RAFFLE FUNDRAISER
Please help support our Men’s Club congregation wide raffle effort benefiting the entire FVJC student population and Men’s Club. Please get involved in either buying or selling raffle tickets in the next few weeks. Ticket envelopes can be picked up / ticket stubs dropped off or additional books obtained in the office with Marlena DeRosa.

There are 12 prizes that will be drawn in order from 1st to 12th prize by Rabbi Herman on Wednesday December 21st 5:45pm at the FVJC. Top prizes are a 500.00 Best Buy gift certificate and a 500.00 Apple Ipad2. Only the top 8 prizes are listed on the ticket but we have 12 prizes to be awarded and are listed on the MC Teens website.

All ticket stubs, proceeds or unsold tickets are due back on Sunday December 18th. The following people are authorized to handle ticket distribution are Marlena DeRosa, Larry Rubin, Mark Lescher, Alan Rockland and Liddy Doyle. Anyone can mail a check in 5.00 increments payable to ‘ FVJC’ and mailed to Mark Lescher at the FVJC and we’ll send your tickets back to you by mail. The address is 55 Bushy Hill Rd, Simsbury, CT 06070. Email questions to Mark Lescher at lescher1 at aol dot com.

Yom Hashoah Candle project and meeting April 3rd

We’ll be packing the Yom Hashoah candles for our FVJC families. Please join us from 9 – 11am for this important project in remembrance of the Holocaust and a Men’s Club 2011 /12 year planning meeting.

Men’s Health presentation Sunday 2/6

On Sunday February 6th from 9:30 – 11:30am, please join the Men’s Club for a panel presentation on Men’s Health organized by Dr. Jeff Spiro. The following medical professionals will be discussing proactive issues on Men’s Health:
Snoring and Sleep Apnea – Jeffrey Spiro MD
Cardiology Update – Peter Schulman MD (also a member of FVJC)
Urology Update – Peter Albertsen MD
Bagels & Coffee will be available – all are welcome.

11/7/2010 Meeting & Speaker notes

The Men’s Club sponsored a speaker on Israel last Sunday November 7th. The presentation by AIPAC, America’s leading pro-Israel lobby was attended by about 40 people and a great success. AIPAC spoke on many important election issues involving both Democratic and Republican political leaders and the effects on the U.S.-Israel relationship. The presentation was organized by Dan Millstein and Carlos Fuentes. The Rabbi helped begin the program with helping us understand the importance of Israel in the torah and the involvement of the synagogue.

Mona Herman spoke to the Men’s Club and guests of the AIPAC presentation on the Caring Community project that she heads explaining its purpose and needs for more volunteers. Mona can be contacted through the Rabbi at rabbi@fvjc.org

The Men’s club recognized the efforts of Carlos Fuentes in building out the Men’s Club and presented him with a sterling silver ‘Yad’.

We passed out vision book marks and conveyed to the audience how the Men’s Club is weaving the vision into its programming.

On Sunday December 5th from 9:30 – 11:30am. Please join us for a panel presentation on Planning Financially organized by Daryl Worobow. A variety of panel experts will be discussing everything from financial planning including Tax tips for 2010, Estate tax issues, college and retirement planning.

Presentation on Israel by AIPAC

This Sunday at 9:00am we have a short meeting and then a presentation on Israel by AIPAC from 9:30am -10:30am which has been arranged by Carlos and Dan. Prior to the presentation, Mona Herman will be addressing us for 5 minutes on the Caring Community effort that she leads for the temple. Rabbi Herman will say a short payer for Israel before the presentation by APAIC.
